The Greatest Blackjack Tournament of Baltic Sea States Welcomes Competitors to Estonian Preliminaries

Posted on 25.08.2005

Estonian preliminaries of The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament are held in Reval Park Hotel&Casino in Tallinn and Olympic Casino in Tartu until October 15th. After the elimination contests of the blackjack tournament with prize fund of about one million kroons, seven local blackjack champions will be given an opportunity to defend their last year’s first place at the Grand Final in Sweden on November 12th.
The Estonian preliminaries of the greatest blackjack tournament of the Baltic Sea states commenced on August 1st – within the last three weeks the number of participants has already reached about 70. According to Tarmo Kase, Managing Director of Olympic Casino, both amateurs who find playing cards amusing and experienced blackjack players hunting for bigger winnings are welcome to participate in the exciting game.

“The preliminaries take place in four groups, the participation fee is accordingly 25, 100, 300 or 500 kroons,” Tarmo Kase explains. “Players will not be required to pay any other expenses besides the participation fee; after payment of the fee they only risk with virtual points.” The best players of the month in each competing group will receive monetary awards and 50 per cent of the participation fee goes into the month’s best player’s prize fund.

All at least 21 years old persons are welcome to attend the Estonian preliminaries lasting until October 15th. After completion of the preliminaries, the seven most successful blackjack players proceeding to the Estonian finals will be announced both in Reval Park Hotel&Casino and Tartu Olympic Casino. The National Final where the Estonian blackjack champion and the seven players representing Estonia at The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament are determined will be held October 22nd in Tallinn.

The sixth international Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament will take place on November 12th at the Casino Cosmopol (Stockholm, Sweden). In addition to the hosting Swedes, Finnish, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, and Russian representative teams will be taking part in the competition. Estonia has to secure last year’s first place both in the individual and team account. Last year, Estonians won over 600,000 kroons in the finals. The prize fund of this year’s serial competition is about one million kroons.

This year, an additional entertainment package “Must Jaak” will be arranged at the same time – from August 1st till September 30th – with the Estonian preliminaries of the blackjack tournament. No card-playing skills are required from those willing to take part in “Must Jaak”; it is simply an enjoyable pastime for a party of 4-7 people. “Must Jaak” (“Black Jack”) offers a welcoming drink, gives an amusing lesson of blackjack and there is also a mini-tournament with surprise rewards to contribute to the competitive atmosphere. At the end of September, “Must Jaak” will raffle a prize (a cinema performance for 40 people in the Coca Cola Plaza A.Le Coq suite) among all participating groups.
