Renowned Poker Tournament Starting Tomorrow at Olympic Casino
Posted on 23.11.2005From tomorrow till Sunday, poker tournament Anniversary Tour 2005 will take place on the initiative of Reval Park Hotel&Casinos Olympic Casino. The award fund of this event is more than one million kroons (the equivalent of €64,000).
According to Tarmo Kase, the managing director of Olympic Casino, the Anniversary Tour tournament, dedicated to the anniversary of Olympic Casino, takes place third year in a row, and both the number of participants and the award fund have increased from year to year. “Last year’s award fund was the highest ever – 1.32 million kroons, but we expect it to be even higher this year,” predicts Tarmo Kase. “The overall award fund for the tournaments in all three Baltic States will be more than 3 million kroons (the equivalent of €190,000).”
This year the participants will arrive from 11 countries from all over the world. In addition to the Baltic States, there are players from Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Iceland, Great Britain, Bulgaria and Australia.
According to Taivo Egel, the Poker manager of Olympic Casino, the lowest participation fee is 500 kroons, and the competition with the highest participation fee will be held on Saturday. “The amount of the award fund depends on the number of participants, and will most probably be over a million kroons at the main competition on Saturday,” says Egel. Participation options to Tallinn tournament have been sold out, but people may also register in a waiting list.
The joint tournament Anniversary Tour 2005 which is held in all Baltic capitals of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia began in Vilnius on November 9 and continued in Riga last weekend. The winner of Vilnius event was Antanas Bakaitis, and the best player in Riga was Aleksander Klepatš from Estonia.
Last year, the overall winner among the total 400 participants of the Anniversary Tour was Eduards Rakuss from Latvia. He was also the one to win the same tournament in 2003.
