Olympic Casino the first in Europe to launch a “coin-free” casino pilot project
Posted on 15.03.2004On March 5 in Tallinn, Olympic Casino is the first casino company in Europe to launch the Reval Park Hotel&Casino’s coin-free casino pilot project which is based on the technologically most modern accounting system, EZ PayTM IVS.
The creator of the EZ PayTM IVS system introduced in Olympic Casino is IGT, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of slot machines and casino equipment. “I had the pleasure of attending Olympic Casino’s 10 year anniversary recently and was very impressed with what I saw. It’s a real credit that they continue to show their commitment to staying ahead of the game with this order,” said the managing director of IGT, Kurt Quartier, commenting on the cooperation with Olympic Casino.
The chairman of the board of Olympic Casino Eesti, Armin Karu, said that the EZ PayTM IVS system was first introduced only a couple of months ago in Las Vegas. Pioneering in this area, Olympic Casino is the first in Europe to introduce this cash-free system in its everyday operations and that has in turn raised the interest of other leading casino chains in the EZ Pay system. “Our main principle that has helped us to achieve the leading position in the casino market in the Baltic States is basically simple – you have to provide the client with the best games and the best technologies,” said Armin Karu.
The slot machines supplied with EZ Pay software enable the old coin rattle and the inconvenient cash settlements with special tickets that are issued to the players to be replaced by a machine. This multiple denomination function enables the player to choose both between different denominations and the size of bets without leaving the machine. Cash will still be used in the casino cash register where the winnings are paid out.
On April 1, Olympic Casino will open a new casino with 45 slot machines in the Ülemiste Centre, which is 100% coin-free. All 108 slot machines of the two casinos of Olympic Casino will be joined to the system. According to Armin Karu the total volume of investments exceeds EEK 25 million. “In ten years, Olympic Casino has invested approximately EEK 455 million in its operations in the Baltic States of which more than half has been invested during the last couple of years,” said Armin Karu.
Olympic Casino Eesti, which started its activity in 1993, has become the leading company offering gaming entertainment in the Baltic States. At present, the chain already has 14 casinos in Estonia, four in Lithuania and one in Latvia. Olympic Casino Eesti AS provides employment to more than 400 people. The administration of the enterprise is in accordance with the requirements of international quality standard ISO 9001
