Olympic Casino is supporting Keila SOS Youth Home with 31,450 EEK
Posted on 27.10.2004Olympic Casino held a charity evening on 22 October at Reval Park Hotel&Casino. The 31,450 EEK raised on the night were donated to Keila SOS Youth Home. The sum was raised by an Olympic Casino charity jackpot and various charity activities at a Venice carnival style party.
“The building of Keila SOS Youth Home was completed last summer. Now we have begun to furnish the rooms to provide 16 young residents of the Youth Home with everything they need,” said the manager of SOS Children’s Village Association of Estonia Mr. Sven Kreek. “The sum raised by Olympic Casino will mainly be used to buy furniture.”
According to Marje Braunbrück, the marketing manager at Olympic Casino, the bulk of the charity income, or 30,300 EEK, was collected by a charity Jackpot which was played out in October. “This is a jackpot which accumulates with every bet placed on a gambling machine at Olympic Casino,” Braunbrück explained. Also the guests of the carnival made contributions towards Keila SOS Youth Home by buying carnival masks or having street artists to paint a portrait.
According to Sven Kreek, Keila SOS Youth Home needs everything a normal home has – from closets and beds to lamps and tools. “Donations in the form of both money and pieces of furniture are welcomed,” said Kreek. People who wish to support the Youth Home may contact the SOS Children’s Village Association of Estonia; contact numbers are on the association’s website www.sos-lastekyla.ee.
The charity evening inspired by Venetian masked carnivals of the Renaissance period was crowded and full of activities – street artists, extracts from popular musicals “Les Misérables” and “Grease” performed by a singer Kelli Uustan, songs by Jüri Homenja. The evening culminated with the serving of an enormous Tiramisu cake.
