Olympic Casino donated over 33 000 kroons to the Tallinn Centre for Children at Risk on its birthday.
Posted on 23.11.2004Olympic Casino celebrated its 11th year of activity on the 20th of November with an entertaining charity party by donating 33 238 kroons to the Tallinn Centre for Children at Risk to mark this occasion. The mayor of Tallinn Tõnis Palts came to receive the donation check at the event.
The Tallinn Centre for Children at Risk is planning to use the money to purchase study books for children. “Children with addiction problems who come to the centre and have not been to school for a long time, start off with tutoring at home in order to catch up with their coevals,” said the director of the Tallinn Centre for Children at Risk Erki Korp. “We will use the donation by Olympic Casino to purchase sets of
4.-9. class study books in Estonian and Russian, also various world maps, charts and other study materials to both our centres,” explained Korp and added that since the donation was bigger than expected the rest of the sum will be used for maintenance and upgrading the children’s computers.
According to Olympic Casino’s marketing director Marje Braunbrück, the majority of the donation sum – 28 265 kroons – was collected during the charity jackpot in November, which generates money from bets made on all the slot machines during the month. “The rest of the donation came from the charity lottery and Roulette wheel organised on the birthday party,” she added.
Olympic Casino has given its support to the activities of the Centre on serveal occasions in the past. “In September last year we collected over 32 000 kroons to support the Centre, which was used to acquire modern sports equipment for the children’s gym and improve the equipment of the Lilleküla Centre’s psychology office,” explained Marje Braunbrück.
The Tallinn Centre for Children at Risk is the city’s oldest centre, which was established in 1993 and which is made up of two shelters for children: the Lilleküla Centre for children without parental care and the Nõmme tee Centre for children with addiction problems. Both centres engage in active study work. If You would like to give Your support to the Centre, please, contact Erki Korp on his e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
