Estonian Cancer Society.
Olympic Casino’s marketing manager Helen Tarmas as the organiser of the night said that the donated sum amounted to 10,875 kroons, collected from a charity auction and the Wheel of Fortune; in addition to that the night’s sales proceeds were donated to the Estonian Cancer Society by its long-term cooperation partner – cosmetics manufacturer Avon.
Maie Egipt, the executive director of the Estonian Cancer Society thanked the organisers of the event and all those present, saying that the donated sum will help make preparations for the extensive campaign for breast cancer prevention scheduled to take place in May next year.
“Unfortunately breast cancer is something people try to avoid thinking about – women become aware of it only after a personal contact with the disease and that can be too late,” Egipt noted. “As there are 550 new cases of breast cancer diagnosed in Estonia every year and the trend is indicating that increasingly younger women are getting breast cancer, thus our intention is to increase people’s awareness and encourage them to have regular checkups and do breast self exams.”
The fashion designer Kriss Soonik from London had the idea to combine the presentation of the “Pretty Poker Faces” lingerie collection with the issue of breast cancer prevention. “The breast cancer issue is highly topical all over the world and for example in London fashion has been extensively contributing to campaigns for breast cancer prevention,” said Kriss Soonik. „Our event is centred on lingerie and these feminine and glamorous items might help make people better aware of such important messages.“
Kriss Soonik is currently completing master’s degree studies in the London College of fashion and has mostly gained popularity as the creator of feminine and sexy underwear. The photographer Jaana Nõu as the author of the series of fashion photographs is working with Kalamari Promotion. The presented series of fashion photographs will be enhancing the walls of the Olympic Casino’s flagship casino for another few weeks at the least.
