An Estonian champion in Blackjack was crowned on Saturday
Posted on 20.10.2004On 16 October, the Estonian finals of The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament, which is Blackjack tournament of the Baltic Sea countries was held at Reval Park Hotel&Casino in Tallinn under the leadership of Olympic Casino. The winner of the tournament Anti won a prize of 50,000 EEK. A total of 200 players throughout Estonia participated in the tournament.
According to Marje Braunbrück, the marketing manager of Olympic Casino, the winners of the second and the third place Aare and Arvi won 20,000 EEK and 10,000 EEK respectively. “The prize fund of the Estonian tournament was substantial, considering that the participation fee started from 25 EEK,” said Braunbrück. This year, preliminary rounds of different levels were introduced the first time; each player had an opportunity to choose a suitable group with participation fee from 25 to 500 EEK. Braunbrück said that the size of the participation fee did not affect the opportunity to reach the finals.
“We are looking forward to 30 October when at the international finals of The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament 2004 in Finland the seven top players of the Estonian finals will defend as a team the title of champion won at the last year’s tournament. The top Blackjack players of six Baltic Sea countries will compete at Grand Casino in Helsinki. The teams come from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland and the first time from Sweden and Poland.
The individual winner of the international tournament will win a prize of 20,000 EUR or nearly 313,000 EEK; the best team will receive 10,500 EUR or 165,000 EEK. The Estonian team of The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament has become a winner of the tournament twice: last year in Riga and in 2001 in Warsaw. An individual first place was won also in Warsaw where Estonia earned a dual victory.
A separate count was held in the breakdown of teams at the Estonian finals of The Baltic Sea Blackjack Tournament as qualification rounds were held at two casinos: Reval Park Hotel&Casino in Tallinn and Tartu Olympic Casino. This time the team of the capital proved to be better.
